Fittingly Floral

In case you want to look like Nicola Roberts circa, um, yesterday, then head over to George at ASDA (we know, we know, but wait) for this cute floral sundress. Its only £10, so quit your moaning and get yourself down those supermarket aisles. Or go online, whatever, I don'd mind.

New York State of Blind

Here is Nicola Roberts larking it up in New York, all in the name of work. The ginger pop star was busy filming the video for her upcoming single, Lucky Day, in a crazy Jil Sander top (or is it a dress?) and Air Max trainers circa Lily Allen 2006. The theme of the day seemed to be 'thumbs up', but I can't quite decide what she is referring to. Was she asked if Girls Aloud were getting back together? Whether her teeth makeover had gone too far? In any case, hailing a cab looking like that is pretty silly, isn't it Nicola? For a start, you're supposed to actually look at the road. Plus, how would you pay the man? You don't appear to have any pockets...

V for Velour

Style Artillery was lucky enough to attend Velour magazine's first birthday party last night at the Cuckoo Club in London's West End. The event, sponsored by British jewellery brand Mawi, drew in the great and the good (as well one or two oddballs, naturally). Velour magazine's latest cover-star, the dashing David Gandy, was in attendance with his super-cute girlfriend Mollie King (by far our favourite Saturday), with the tanned twosome drawing much of the attention from the party goers.  As we squeezed into the VIP area with a Tanqueray gin cocktail in hand, we noticed everyone's favourite sexually ambiguous model, Andrej Pejic, whose stunning looks seemed to attract admiration from both sexes - we couldn't keep our eyes off him. Having woken up this morning somewhere in Putney with a hangover and a goodie bag full of, well goodies, we know a good time was had. At least we think so, it all goes a bit blank after midnight (must have been that Tanqueray).

A Cut Above...

To crop or not to crop? That certainly isn't the question on the minds of Vanessa Hudgens and Hayden Panettiere, who have said goodbye to their luscious locks and gone for the chop. Whilst Vanessa's is perhaps a little too, well, choppy - we totally love Hayden's pixie do. Hell, we even love that icky green shirt, in a shade which can only be described as 'tepid' at best. Mind you, we did have a couple of spritzers at lunch...

The long and short of it

They sure do grow up fast! Hanging out in Hampshire this weekend was Kick Ass star Chloe Moretz, here for the Gold Cup Polo final. Clearly channeling style-goddess Diane Kruger, Chloe looks pretty in her boater hat and creamy knee-length shorts (at least we think they are knee-length shorths, hard to tell on a 14 year old). Whilst all the fashion pages fawn over Chloe's style, we would like to remind you that at 14, there is no need to look like Diane Kruger - a pair of dungarees and converse will do just fine. Chloe, enjoy the free clothes, but remember to enjoy your childhood too...

Something for the Weekend

It may be mid-July but, unsurprisingly enough, it is windy, rainy, and generally horrible. Our pick for this weekend is something to keep those summer chills at bay. The lovely Fearne Cotton has this week launched a further collection to her collaboration with Very. If we are honest (and we always are), we don't rate it as much as some of her earlier pieces. However, this Burberry-esque tartan cape coat ticks all the right boxes, we love it! Heat over to Very.co.uk and click away. It's yours for £75.

Rolls Royce

Rachel Roy, you may be a designer, but that doesn't mean you can excuse yourself out of this one. We like the tee, we even like the boxy blazer. As for the yellow trousers, we adore them, and the clutch is ace. Our problem, Rachel is those road-kill snake shoes, and the way they clash with the carpet is making our eyes hurt and out stomach turn over. Other than that, as you were!

Wanted: New Hairdo

Kelly, please take the following critique seriously: When people start to confuse you with Courtney Love/Pat Sharp/Anthea Turner, its time to change your hair. There, we said it.

Harper Seven Beckham

Well, what else were we going to talk about today? Now, we would never mock a child here at Style Artillery, but with a name like Harper Seven Beckham, we are finding it very difficult to be nice today. We are told that the name is in reference to David's football shirt, the month of July, blah blah. But, after some serious detective work, we can reveal that it is in fact the number of alleged affairs David has 'engaged in' since marrying Posh Spice*. They might as well have called the baby Rebecca!

Proud: David announced the baby's name on his Facebook page

*we totally made that up.

Something for the Wedding Weekend

Tis the season to be invited to a wedding, so today we have picked the perfect dress to celebrate your friend's/sister's/ex-boyfriend's nuptials. Remember, you don't always have to wear top-to-toe pastels to a wedding, be brave with your colour choice, but keep the shape simple and elegant (you wouldn't want to upstage the bride, would you?) This red midi-dress from ASOS has a great 1940s feel about it, and the colour stands out for all the right reasons. We love the pussy-bow tie detail, too. Buy it now! See you at the reception!

Vodia-no-no

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair-piece! When Natalia Vodianova received her invite to the White Fairy Tale Love Ball, did she plan to look quite so frightening? Rapunzel is meant to be a virginal fair maiden, locked away in a tower for reasons that escape us. Also, we are pretty sure she was blonde, rather than washing-up water grey with hints of red. This may sound picky, but we are sticklers for historical accuracy, fictional or not.

Midi-Mary

Mary-Kate Olsen on the street in New York - celebrity fashion

Here is Mary-Kate Olsen walking her pooch in New York. Whilst we love her outfit, particularly the crisp white shirt (a wardrobe must), we would like to highlight the pitfalls of wearing a midi-skirt if you are short. As the 5' 2" Mary-Kate shows, it only makes you look shorter. Like, totally teeny-tiny. So whilst we commend you, readers, for wanting to stay on trend, certain styles are to be avoided depending on your body type. Rain macs, too, are best left to those above 5' 7". Why do you think runway models are always so tall? (the newly married Kate Moss is an exception here). As for Mary-Kate, we can only presume she has enlisted her dog on her quest to find missing sister Ashley. (We say missing, as the fashion press only ever seems to talk about Mary-Kate...strange).
